From July 6th to July 12th, NudgeBridge embarked on a transformative journey to Huangji Village, Gubei Town, Jinzhai County, Lu'an City, Anhui Province, China, to conduct the Summer Volunteer Teaching Camp at Guangai School. This pioneering institution serves as the first public welfare school in Anhui Province dedicated to the care and education of orphaned, disabled, impoverished, and left-behind children from across the nation. Facing the formidable challenge of nurturing the self-confidence and psychological health of these children, often compromised by the lack of a stable family environment, NudgeBridge committed to making a difference.
Understanding the unique needs of the Guangai School, NudgeBridge focused its efforts on enhancing the children's psychological well-being, physical health, and career interests, aiming to mitigate the educational void left by an absence of parental guidance.
To ensure the success of this mission, NudgeBridge provided comprehensive training for the team in crafting detailed lesson plans and preparing resources for a wide range of subjects, including mental health, personal hygiene, sex education, career exploration, internet literacy, and drama. This preparation enabled the creation of a curriculum that was not only informative but also highly engaging and interactive for the children.
During the camp, NudgeBridge enriched the lives of over 60 children who remained at the school over the summer break. The program included not just academically focused classes but also a variety of extracurricular activities such as carnivals, sports games, art appreciation sessions, and science experiments. These activities were designed to broaden the children's horizons, introducing them to new interests and hobbies, including frisbee. Additionally, NudgeBridge provided a supportive environment for the children to express their thoughts and emotions, offering interviews and psychological counseling.
After the camp concluded, volunteers from NudgeBridge initiated an ongoing fundraising campaign to ensure long-term financial support for academically outstanding students facing financial hardships, covering their tuition and living expenses for high school or vocational school. Moreover, NudgeBridge leveraged its official platforms to start discussions on education equity issues identified during the camp, raising public awareness and encouraging further support for this vital cause.
